Training and Development
Rising Eagles offers a blended approach to training and development that combines classroom training, group activities, assignments and e-learning. The programme is enhanced with specific events where we host specialist speakers to deliver key topics that affect our business and your role.

Whichever one of our business areas you join, you’ll be guided, moulded and trained for 12 months– building up the skills and experience you’ll need to become a leader for our future. Every step of the way, our training and support will keep your development on track.

How should we evaluate the risks we face as an organisation?

In Analytics, we focus on unlocking the potential of data. As an organization, we’re constantly looking for ways to engage with our customers more authentically and serve them more efficiently. And as part of the team here, you’ll help us do just that through dynamic personalised products and experiences, using big data platforms.

It’s the role of Treasury to balance the supply and demand of money and capital in the bank. Our overarching objective is to ensure our customers’ money is working as hard as possible, while mitigating risks and maintaining a level of liquidity that will meet both their demands and those of the regulatory bodies

Product Control
The Product Control South African (approximately 300 employees) team follows a truly global Product Control model. Employees locally and across Africa are are given exposure to a world class business model, best practice in Product Control and the breadth and depth of experience to build their careers.

The teams within Product Control focus on a variety of asset classes (refer Clusters) and interact with a range of clients and other Infrastructure areas including Front Office, Financial Control, Valuations, Market Risk, Compliance, Operations, Change and IT.

Product Control plays a pivotal role in understanding, substantiating, controlling and reporting the daily balance sheet and income statement for Trading, Group Treasury and Investment Banking products.

PC is key in reducing risk by embedding a robust control environment and implementing an independent control framework, and plays a fundamental role in the controlled growth of the organisation.

PC is responsible for the production of a comprehensive daily trading P&L and balance sheet, PLEX and commentary, the execution of regular independent price verification.

Accounting Training Programme – SAICA and CIMA
If you’re looking for the broadest possible introduction to our business and the chance to qualify as an accountant with SAICA or CIMA, this is the programme to apply for.

If you’re working towards a B.Com (Hons)/CTA/GDA or equivalent at a university recognised by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the SAICA programme is the one to apply for.

The CIMA programme is open to you if you’re completing studies that will exempt you up to the Managerial Level at the end of the year you apply.

In Operations, we develop and roll-out efficient, automated and clearly-defined processes that keep business running smoothly, not only living up to Barclays own exacting standards but exceeding our customers’ expectations too.

In some cases, working more efficiently and effectively might involve establishing world-class hubs. In others, it might mean focusing on specialist areas such as workforce or Service Level Agreement management. Whatever it involves, the challenges will come thick and fast. And each of those challenges will bring its own opportunities.
